Since 1984, the museum has been located at Las Delicias Station, the oldest in Madrid. Inaugurated in 1880 by Alfonso XII, it constitutes one of the most noteworthy examples of "iron architecture" of the 19th century. It houses one of the largest collections of historic locomotives and travellers carriages in Europe, which allows visitors to observe and understand the development of this method of transport in Spain.
